In case you don’t know, dear reader, President Obama is running a donating scheme with his email list. After three years of siding with corporations, ignoring worker’s rights in Wisconsin and elsewhere, continuing to warrentlessly wiretap or monitor citizens and indefinitely detain “enemy combatants” it seems Mr.President is now having some trouble raising funds. So he started a raffle. 5 Dollars for a chance to win dinner with the head of the “free” world.

What’s that? Don’t have 5 dollars? Too busy looking for a job that you won’t get? More worried about where you’re going to sleep tonight or if your kid in Iraq will still be alive in the morning? Well Fuck You too. The President doesn’t want to hear from You. You’re probably one of those “poors” whose high school diploma doesn’t count for shit anyway, even if you did get it.

You might’ve been a constitutional scholar in a past life, Mr. President. But seems it’s been a while since you actually read it. Here’s a refresher: “We the People.” You work for that crying kid over there on the playground and her double-job working single mom. You work for that douchebag high school teen who might get shipped off to kill disobedient brown people in Afghanistan. You work for me, a cynic who probably cares more than he should.

You want to hear from constituents? Go abduct one off the street. Tell a three letter agency to grab a few at random and bring ‘em to your office. Not just the clean, upstanding ones either. The ones who got passed over for being born rich or healthy. The vets without jobs, the seniors without homes and the kids without food. Ask what they have to say, not just the ones with 5 dollars.

So no. I’m not joining your raffle. You’re not getting a cent from me. That goes for you and all the other sniveling politicians who sold We The People out before we were even born.

First post in a while but I’m back! Last weekend spent some time back at RIT at the Club Fair for incoming Freshmen. This Video was shot by my kali instructor, Kuya Doug Marcaida and it showcases a lot of the neat things that RIT has to offer. Also managed to get into a few of the shots myself, I’m the one with the black “By The Blade” T-shirt using the yellow glowstick on the left when the video loads and Doug is the one on the right. I need practice pretty badly but it turned out pretty well in some shots, yay!

Great to see all the guys again and I hope the RIT Kali Club does very well this year. I’ll do my best to get up there and join in a few meetings when I can.

Heh, quite a few I know but a few quick notes on my favorites.

Cogs: Probably one of my favorites of these games. This slider puzzle pack reminds me of gizmos and gadgets in it’s whimsicality. It gets pretty dang hard after a while and with time trials and move counters there’s plenty here to keep your puzzle-oriented mind occupied for hours and hours.

RUSH: This game is fun and relaxing if you use hints. Now that the ARG is over, GLaDOS doesn’t take away the hints in hard mode. That’s a bit of a cop out on my part since the hints make the game so easy, but in this one I’m more curious in seeing how it all works out than banging my head against the wall. If you want a challenge, don’t use the hints. If you want something cool to toy with, this it a good choice.

Defense Grid: The Awakening: Ah tower defense. A commonly used game design. This one sets itself apart with high quality sci-fi graphics and tons of variables to keep track of and a few expansion packs that I might have to look into. For $10 bucks, it’s a pretty great deal.

The Wonderful End of the World: Hmm, this one’s not bad. Reminds me of Katamari Damacy but for computer I guess. Can get a little frustrating but another pretty fun one.

AaAaAA!!!-A Reckless Disregard for Gravity: Holy frustration. I spent a ton of time trying to get the Portal level done and it was such a crazy fight. Ugh. This one is good but not really for me.

BIT.TRIP BEAT: Psychadellic looking Pong. ‘Nuff said.

Team Fortress 2: Awww Yeah. Fun game. It’s been a while since I hit up the FPS market for a little fun but this game is a great one. Not as realistic as I prefer but I might have to wait until Battlefield 3 for that.

I still haven’t gotten to play Portal 2 yet but hopefully I’ll be able to sit down and work on it sometime within the next week or so. Will see. Don’t forget my handle on Steam is LeosAdrynn and once school ends and I take a look at TF2 some more and finish Portal 2 maybe I’d be free for some Co-op. See ya.

Looks like I’m doing the review here, hm. Well went and saw Insidious with Li Monday night. Overall, I thought it was pretty scary in the first hour or so. The suspense and anxiousness at what was going on in the shadows. Creatures unknown lurking just beyond the audience’s view. That part I loved about Paranormal Activity, you didn’t really know what was going on and that lack of knowledge is exactly what instills fear and worry in a viewer. It was right at the point where the beast became visible that it became a bit of a letdown. Instead of *my* image of the worst possible thing that’s waiting to pounce from the darkness, it became the director’s. A thing that could be dismissed. Admittedly a creepy looking demon that I wouldn’t want to tangle with, but still a tangible threat instead of an intangible one.

The movie did have a few more creepy aspects, Li was particularly creeped out by the kid she thought was a statue that made an appearance in three scenes and was never seen again. I didn’t even notice it in the first one either but it was a little weird when he was playing with the record player. The girls were a bit freaky the first time, and the hyper-realistic faces of them, their dead family who made a sub-plot appearance and the other ghosts were pretty scary as well. The last scene particularly freaked me out with the veiled woman’s eerie smile. Smiles like that usually do preclude something bad.

A good scare flick for the first hour, then it gets a little less scary before attempting to regain some lost ground in the end. Worth watching though.

Books:
—Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk (Whoo! Fight Club! It was a paperback on the corner while I was picking up some textbooks so I figured why not? The book is usually better than the movie so this book must be pretty damn good.
—A People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn (Probably the next book I’m going to pick up. For now my goal is to finish the set of nutrition books that Li gave me for Christmas in the next 7 weeks. Possible, but gonna need some dedicated time management. I gotta say I’ve been a little excited about this book ever since I’ve heard some Howard Zinn quotes here and there, as well as the interview by Citizen Radio. Power to the people.)
—SKS, AKu, AK-47 Owner’s Manual (Almost forgot about this little booklet I picked up at the gun show for $5.50. A neat little book on teardown and sighting that I figured I should have since I plan on owning both an AK-47 and an SKS.)

Video Games:
—Rift (Artem got me into this one. I gotta say I’m actually impressed by the game. I don’t get much time to play it these days but when I do, there’s just so much content and freedom of playstyle. Granted, a lot of the game is “go here, kill that” but things like the artifact collections and the expansive world make it a pretty deep game for now.)
—Sim City 4: Deluxe Edition (Every once in a while I like the sim games that let me destress in my own little world. This was the newest one that seemed to follow the same format as the Sim City genre and it was about 20$ on Amazon, so why not?)

Movies:
——Inside Job (Oscar Winner 2011 all about the economic crisis. Hopefully it’ll live up to the hype. At least the filmmaker is consistent and mentioned that no one had gone to jail at the time of the Oscar acceptance. Way to stick to his principles.)
——Capitalism: A Love Story (Actually a request from Li. I hadn’t thought about Michael Moore much since Fahrenheit 9/11. Maybe I’ll pick that one up for a rewatch too but for now the theme is the Economy.)

Few last notes, Got myself a new phone, finally, that’s made me…if not more informed, given me more access to information. Still working through it and plan on having a review soon. Been looking into Podcasting as a possible new project/use for my time. Something with an Atheist & Political Progressive/Radical Left viewpoint, but it’s still in its pre-initial stages.
